Two days to build confidence, strengthen communication skills and learn the foundations of effective public speaking - all in a small, supportive group. Through practical exercises, games and guided practice, students will learn how to organize their ideas, use their voice effectively, manage nerves, connect with an audience and speak with greater confidence. Each participant will prepare and deliver a short speech on Day 2, putting their new skills into practice while receiving individual feedback and encouragement along the way.
Day 1 - The Foundations
Find your message: Understanding what you want to say and how to organize your ideas.
Know your audience: Learning how to think about who you're speaking to and what they need to hear.
Use your voice: Exploring pace, volume, tone, expression and the power of a pause.
Tell a story: Learning the fundamentals of storytelling and how stories can make ideas more memorable.
Manage your nerves: Understanding what happens when we get nervous and learning practical ways to manage those feelings.
Day 2 - Practice and Present
Speak with confidence: Using posture, eye contact, body language and voice to connect with an audience.
Think on your feet: Practice how to respond when you're asked a question you weren't expecting.
Learning how to prepare for an important speaking moment without trying to memorize every word.
Your final speech (guardians welcome to attend).
